GPT for Google Drive

With the GPT Workspace add-on installed, the GPT Workspace icon appears in the panel on the right of Google Drive. Select one or more files and open it.

  • Summarize document sums up the selected file (Google Doc, Sheet, Slides or PDF) in a few lines.
  • Prompt document opens Run Custom Prompts: choose the file, type a prompt or pick one of the suggestions (Show key points, Suggest improvements, Create 5 questions, Check grammar/spelling, Structure the content, Verify accuracy of statements) and click Run ➜.

The card runs on your credits like the chat; when they run out it offers to upgrade.

With the Chrome extension, the GPT Workspace button in Drive’s top bar opens the side panel.

Starters in Drive: Find on my drive, Analyze selected file, Create a new document / spreadsheet / presentation from the selected files, Organize my drive (sort files into folders) and Merge selected files.

Search files and shared drives, show a folder tree, read a file’s content, metadata, sharing permissions and version history (and the text of a past revision), create folders, copy, rename and move files, share them, merge files of the same type, and trash or restore files.

Bulk clean-ups are safe by design: “Trash every file named draft older than a year” first previews the count and some names and asks you to confirm before anything is moved to the trash. Trashed files stay in Google Drive’s trash for 30 days.
