MCP servers overview
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets an AI assistant call external tools. GPT Workspace hosts one MCP server per Google app, so Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code or your own agent can read and edit your Google files, mail, calendar and tasks.
The servers are hosted: there is nothing to install or deploy. You add a server URL to your client, sign in with Google when the client asks, and the tools appear in the assistant.

Two more servers exist for the GPT Workspace apps inside ChatGPT: slides (generates a deck and returns the link at once) and slides-generator (the template picker). See Connect ChatGPT.
The full list of tools per server is in the tools reference.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”- Transport: streamable HTTP. Any client that supports remote MCP servers works.
- Sign-in: OAuth 2.0 with your Google account. Each server asks only for the scopes it needs, for example Gmail asks to read, modify and send mail; Docs asks for Documents and Drive. The client opens Google’s consent screen the first time you use a server, and the server keeps a refresh token so you are not asked again.
- Account: the Google account you sign in with is the GPT Workspace account that is charged. Start free at app.gpt.space; usage limits follow your plan, see What is a credit?.
- Privacy: the servers call Google’s APIs on your behalf and return the results to your client. Your files stay in Google; see Data and privacy.
Limits
Section titled “Limits”- The API accepts 500 requests per 30 seconds per account across all servers.
generate_presentationcreates at most 10 slides per call on the free plan; paid plans have no fixed cap.- Gmail’s
get_message_content_batchreads at most 10 messages per call. - Google’s own API quotas apply, for example Slides thumbnails are limited to 60 reads per minute.
Connect a client
Section titled “Connect a client”Revoke access
Section titled “Revoke access”Remove the connector in your client, then revoke GPT Workspace in your Google Account connections if you want Google to forget the authorization too.
